The Department of Transportation (DOT) has restarted public engagement for the 31st Street Redesign in Astoria, announcing an expanded proposal to install curbside protected bike lanes from 20th Avenue to Northern Boulevard.
In December, Queens Supreme Court Justice Chereé Buggs ordered the DOT to halt plans for the redesign, siding with a number of local businesses and organizations who said the plan would present a hazard for pedestrians and motorists while also reducing access to local businesses.
