County to pay millions in early retirement buyouts

Nassau County is expected to pay $116 million in buyouts to 600 government workers. 

Workers who took County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s early buyout deal, which was approved in February, were owed a $2,000 lump sum for each year of service, as well as termination payouts for unused leave.
