The JFK Redevelopment Community Advisory Council meeting was held in the local community’s Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral minutes away from JFK Airport. Co-Chairs Congressman Meeks and Queens Boro President Donovan Richards spoke about the benefits to the MBW, LBE and ACDBE communities during the massive $9 billion JFK Airport Redevelopment program. As a program initiated by the then Governor Cuomo and now strongly supported by Governor Hochul, the Port Authority through the Community Redevelopment Center, the airline terminal operators, community leaders and investors are actively and demonstratively creating innovative programs to further the equity, and inclusion of the local Queens businesses and residents. The Port, York College and individual terminals are offering engaging STEM, retail concession initiatives and educational development
as paths to career success. All the speakers urged all those who are interested in getting a “piece of the pie” to begin their Port Authority minority certifications in order to be placed on the procurement process.
