Polls Open on Election Day on Long Island

Voters voting in polling place

It’s Election Day on Long Island and across the country.

Long Island voters began casting ballots at 8 a.m. in dozens of local races across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Voting will continue until polls close at 9 p.m.

A host of seats are up for grabs, notably Nassau County executive and district attorney in both counties. Democratic Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is seeking a second term against her Republican challenger, Hempstead Town Councilman Bruce Blakeman. Also in Nassau, State Sen. Todd Kaminsky is up against Anne Donnelly, a county prosecutor, for district attorney.
