At a recent meeting of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, a first since the pandemic began, members, supporters and guests warmly welcomed each other and were happy to finally see each other.

Everyone was very excited and enthusiastic for the upcoming June Primary Election and was eager to meet the Republican candidates for office in the 46 Assembly District in person.

A large crowd gathered to hear Lucretia Regina-Potter, president of the organization, and candidate for Female Republican State Committee of the 46 AD (District Leader), John Quaglione, the current Male Republican State Committee Member 46AD (District Leader), who is running for re-election with Lucretia, and Inna Vernikov, the only Republican candidate for City Council in the 48 Council District.

Regina-Potter spoke of her experience of assisting people, and her service to the community of the 46AD in her many years as a Republican Leader. She stated she is very active in the community, as many of the guests robustly affirmed, and her commitment to continue to do so.

“The 46 Assembly District is our home, and the people that live within it, our family. Families should always look out for and care for each other. I intend to keep working to improve our area, especially with John Quaglione as my partner and Co-Leader,” said Regina-Potter.

Quaglione thanked everyone for reaching out to him in dealing with the quality-of-life issues in the 46AD. “I am the go-to guy to call when a pothole needs repair or a street light is out. It is terrible to see the deteriorating condition of the area and the increase in graffiti within the past year. I am excited to be running with Lucretia Regina-Potter. We finally get to work together, and serve the needs of the community as a great team,” he said.

Vernikov, the only Republican candidate for City Council in the 48 Council District, is a practicing attorney who came to the United States from the Ukraine when she was 12 years old. As such, she gets to face her Democratic opponent in November.

“I studied and worked very hard to become an attorney and build a thriving practice. I am not running for this position because I need a job, unlike my Democratic opponents who are running because they need one. Our local politicians have failed us. I feel it is my duty to step up to the plate and do something about the terrible things that are going on,” said Vernikov.

All three candidates agreed that people need to feel safe in their communities, small businesses need to be supported and children need a good education and not an indoctrination. The three also agreed to work closely with one another and heartily endorsed each other.

The candidates have received the endorsement of the Kings County Republican Party, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, former State Senator Marty Golden and former State Senator David Strobin.

Regina-Potter closed the meeting and reminded the Republican voters in the 46AD to vote for her and John as Republican Male Leader, and Republican Female Leader, and to flip their Republican ballot over and fill in the ovals for each of their names.

Lucretia Regina-Potter and John Quaglione are on the ballot for the June 22 Primary Election, and during early voting from June 12 through June 20.
