At the moment, the national election looks to be incredibly tense, and the results are still inconclusive. Among the local elections in Manhattan, however, the races, by and large, turned out as expected.
One unexpectedly competitive race was in Assembly District 76. After a filing error precluded her from running on the Democratic ticket, Assemblymember Rebecca Seawright (Rise and Unite) narrowly defeated challenger Lou Puliafito (R), 55.1 percent to 44.9 percent.
Meanwhile, in State Senate District 28, State Senator Liz Krueger (D-Upper East Side, Lenox Hill) cruised to a third straight victory over challenger Michael Zumbluskas (R). Zumbluskas did accumulate a slightly higher share of the vote than he did when he challenged her in 2016, however.
