Stringer Posts List of Resources for Back-to-School Parents

Yesterday, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer (D) posted a list of resources and tips for parents whose children are going back to school.

Stringer’s resource guide included tips on how to get grounded in the school routine, how to accommodate children with disabilities, and who to contact if their children are victims of bullying or harassment.

“The start of the school year is one of the greatest — and most stressful periods for parents,” reads the guide. “The school checklist, the first-day jitters, and the swelling of pride as you watch your kids walk into the school building with all their classmates. It’s a moment of joy, excitement, and some nervousness, too. I know the feeling all too well as my wife, Elyse, and I prepare our sons, Max and Miles, for the school year. For parents, there’s always a creeping sense that there’s more you should be doing — right up to when that first bell sounds and you wave good-bye.”

Representative Nydia Velázquez (D-LES, Brooklyn, Queens) released another statement yesterday calling out the Trump Administration – this time for rerouting funds from Puerto Rico towards his border wall.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump (R) announced his plan to take $402 million of Department of Defense money from Puerto Rico in order to fund the border wall.

“It’s shameful that the Administration has targeted Puerto Rico for the lion share of cuts, more than any other state or territory,” said Velázquez. “The President intends to steal money from an already impoverished island, to finance his coldhearted persecution of immigrants.”
