Assembly Member Robert Carroll (D-Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Ditmas Park) has shown a strong interest in his tenure in process such as proxy reform amendments he has co-authored, one of which the Kings County Democratic Party has instituted.

The lawmaker has now turned his attention to state campaign finance reform laws, which has been one of the main topics at his two recent town hall meetings. While the city has a public financing system in place, the state does not, and Carroll believes putting one in place will go a long way to reforming the storied history of bipartisan corruption in Albany.

“As a long-time supporter of a public financing system that would prioritize people over moneyed interests, I was glad to participate in the New York State Senate hearing this past Wednesday in Albany,” he said in his newsletter.

The newsletter also included a video link of Carroll’s exchange with members of the City’s Campaign Finance Board during this hearing, looking at its process, plusses and minuses. For those KCP viewers interested in this issue, the following video is worth checking out.
