Maloney to Hold Town Hall Meeting on 2020 Census
Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Upper East Side) will be holding a town hall meeting on the 2020 Census.
Maloney, partnering with several other New York electeds, will explain what exactly the 2020 Census means for New York and answer questions from attendees.
The event is slated for Saturday, Mar. 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens at 21-12 30th Road.
Brewer to Hold Public Hearing on Congestion Pricing
Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer (D) will be holding a public hearing on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s (D) preliminary congestion pricing plan.
The plan will involve tolling private vehicles that come into Manhattan south of 61st Street in order to reduce traffic congestion and bring in additional revenue. Brewer, along with a bevy of experts, electeds and agency leaders, will be debating the merits of the plan and hearing testimony from the public.
The event is slated for Thursday, Mar. 21 at 6 p.m. at The Frederick P. Rose Auditorium at Cooper Union.
Liz Krueger Issues Statement on Anti-Semitic Graffiti at Asphalt Green
State Senator Liz Krueger (D-Upper East Side, Lenox Hill) released a statement yesterday detailing her disgust with the news of anti-semitic vandalism found at the Asphalt Green recreational facility.
Last weekend, it was reported that vandals had painted swastikas on the walls of a family locker room at the facility. The NYPD’s hate crime unit is investigating the incident, but so far no suspects have been identified.
“We know that anti-Semitism is on the rise across our country,” said Krueger. “Even in New York City, where we cherish the ideals of diversity and acceptance, we are not free from this growing scourge. The incidents at Asphalt Green and recently in a Queens school yard show that the next generation is being infected by the messages of hate that they hear all too often from people they are told to look up to – family, teachers, media personalities, and even – and especially – the President of the United States.”
