Uber last week unveiled a new microsite, www.
“From Brownsville to Jamaica, Uber helps us move around in our communities, and in every corner of the five boroughs. That is why the majority of Uber rides are now outside of Manhattan. And, in the past year, trips in Brooklyn and Queens have nearly doubled,” said Uber Spokesperson Danielle Filson.
As featured on the site, some of the top Uber destinations in Brooklyn include:
- Barclay’s Center/Atlantic Terminal in Downtown Brooklyn
- Kingsborough Community College in Manhattan Beach
- NY Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope
- Maimonides Medical Center in Sunset Park/Borough Park
The site also zeroes in on certain neighborhoods within the borough where it found in the past year trips to such underserved neighborhoods as Sunset Park, Crown Heights, Brownsville and East New York have more than doubled.
More than half of these trips are on UberPOOL, and a good many of the trip end up being outside central business districts, meaning they are being used locally.
Among those giving testimonials on the site are the Rev. Al Sharpton, President and Founder of the National Action Network and a National Civil Rights Leader
“Ride hailing services are a critical part of our transportation system, especially in communities outside of Manhattan where taxis don’t go. Since apps have launched in New York City, all New Yorkers can get an affordable ride – no matter where you live or what you look like,” said Sharpton.
