The Hillary Clinton New York State primary team came to Brooklyn today and quickly scored the Shirley Chisholm Democratic Club’s endorsement.
The Central Brooklyn political club is named for political trailblazer Shirley Chisholm, the first black congress member from Brooklyn, the first woman congress member from Brooklyn and the first black woman from a major political party to run for president.
“We are proud to stand with Secretary Clinton and endorse her for President of the United States of America. Hillary Clinton has a strong plan to continue to build economic opportunities for all Americans, while combating social and racial injustices. For decades, she has been a strong advocate for children and families, beginning with the Children’s Defense Fund. She continues to be a strong voice around the issues of Healthcare Reform and Women’s Rights issues,” said Blondell Lighty, President of the Shirley Chisholm Democratic Club and community activist.
Flatbush Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte, Chairwoman of the Shirley Chisholm Democratic Club, said she was delighted to celebrate Women’s History Month with endorsing Clinton, while also honoring the legacy of our Club’s namesake, the Honorable Shirley Chisholm.
“We believe Secretary Clinton embodies the ideals and principles for which our club stands,” said Bichotte.

The New York State Presidential Primary is slated for April 19.
