Presidential Elections:

Hillary Rodham ClintonHillary Clinton will win the New York State Democratic Presidential primary. Marco Rubio will win the New York State Republican Presidential Primary. Hillary Clinton will defeat Jeb Bush in the general to become this nation’s first woman president.

Brooklyn Congressional Elections

Congress Members Hakeem Jeffries, Yvette Clarke, Dan Donovan and Jerold Nadler will all win handily. However, Republican Jamie Sanders will fare better than expected against Clarke as the young Black leadership in Brooklyn’s GOP continues to emerge.

Congress woman Nydia Velazquez will win a nailbiter primary against Asian-American Yungman Lee.

State Senate Elections

In no particular order Brooklyn State Senators Kevin Parker, Martin Dilan, Simcha Felder, Diane Savino, Dan Squadron, Velmanette Montgomery, Jesse Hamilton and Roxanne Persaud will all win handily.

State Assembly Elections

All incumbents will win with the exception of 56th District Assemblywoman Annette Robinson, who will retire. CB 3 Chair Tremaine Wright will then win in a hard-fought election against Karen Cherry.

Additional races to watch will be the open 59th Assembly District Seat. Jamie Williams will win the special April election against Mercedes Narcisse, and will again beat her in the September primary. Freshman AssemblyWoman Pam Harris will win going away against Kate Cucco who will get the Republican/Conservative Party Lines.

City Councilwoman Darlene Mealy will not challenge Assemblywoman Latrice Walker for the assembly seat, and will instead serve out her term while considering her next move.

City Politics

There are no scheduled elections in 2016.

First Lady Chirlane McCray will start a New York City Book Reading Club. One of the titles she’ll pick for reading will be Kings County Politics Publisher/Novelist Stephen Witt’s first novel, American Moses.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will respond to an incident with a speech that will garner him citywide and national recognition.

Mayor de Blasio will tweak his rezoning proposals and they will ultimately be passed.

Both Airbnb and removing the horses from Central Park will become major issues.

Brooklyn Sports

The Brooklyn Islanders will make it to the conference finals in the Stanley Cup playoffs before losing in seven games. Their showing earn the team a growing following in Brooklyn.

Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov will take a greater interest in the team and make several crucial changes to improve the squad.

Dwayne (Tiny) Morton will make a successful return as boys basketball coach of Lincoln High School, but the Railsplitters will lose in the City Championship quarterfinals.
