Bath Beach/Bensonhurst Assemblyman William Colton and 47th Assembly Democratic District Leaders Nancy Tong and Charles Ragusa have cooperated with multiple community groups to help give out hundreds of toys to children in the neighborhood through making his office available for collection of toys to be given out by each group.

On Sunday, December 6, Colton and Tong attended a St. Nick’s Celebration at the Most Precious Blood Parish to give out toys.

Then a week later, on Sunday, December 13, Colton took part in a motorcade from Ulmer Park Depot all the way to Gerritson Beach with busloads of toys collected by the Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Colton, Tong and Ragusa collected several hundred toys, which were picked up by the Marine Corps volunteers to be included as a part of their giveaways for needy children.

This past Saturday, December 19, joined with the Marlboro Residents Association to give toys out to children at NYCHA’s Marlboro Houses.

“This year, the toy giveaways have been a huge success and I would like to thank each of the generous members and groups who helped contribute because the participation shows a strong bond within our neighborhood. More than anything, the holiday season is about giving and that has been shown through the many events that I attended,” said Colton.

Tong, who organized many of the collections remarked, “There is nothing more satisfying than seeing gifts enter the hands of hundreds of kids and their smile in reaction.”

Among the community groups participating in the toy collection were Americare, United Chinese Association of Brooklyn, Be Proud Foundation, United Progressive Decmocratic Club, the Marine Corp Toys for Tots, Marlboro Residents Association and the Onora Club of the Most Precious Blood Parish.
