Flatbush/Midwood State Senator Kevin Parker celebrated the second night of Hanukkah on Monday as host for the Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project’s Nonprofit Discretionary Funding Application Workshop.

City Councilman Jumaane Williams (Flatlands, Canasie) also hosted the event and helped organize it, but was away at a policy meeting in Washington DC.

Attendees at the workshop learned how to start a nonprofit, apply for City Council and capital funding, branding and social marketing, building organizational capacity, and applying for other funding opportunities and grant writing.

“I wish all my Jewish constituents a Happy Hannukah as I am proud to represent a thriving Jewish community in the 21st Senatorial District, including the neighborhood of Midwood,” said Parker.

“I was honored to participate in the Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project’s lighting of the menorah for the second night of Hannukah. I proudly joined my friend and Bridge MCP founder Mark Meyer Appel, a passionate advocate for social justice issues affecting New Yorkers and people around the world.

“Hannukah can serve as a reminder for all of us of the importance of quashing religious persecution against people of all faiths worldwide. The radical demagoguery and violent extremism we see today demonstrate that what happened to the Jewish people in the Second Century BCE is still a real possibility today. And I will continue to advocate for the safety and welfare of my district’s Jewish community and all my constituents.”

The Mission of The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project (MCP) is to unite and energize people of every racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious group across New York City and the United States. To address social issues facing society today and to advocate for transformational social change as “ONE” united community to promote and advocate government to educate society as a combined unified voice.

MCP is located at 1894 Flatbush Avenue and holds an array of events for the community. For further information call 718.338.5200 ex 1 or email mark@thebridgemcp.com.
