It was a cause for celebration this past Tuesday as the Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn (LID), Brooklyn’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) political organization, celebrated the historic election of  Brooklyn’s first openly LGBT Supreme Court Judge Debra Silber.

LID also honored Frank Seddio, Kings County Democratic Chairman, for his promotion of diversity in the selection of judges in Brooklyn. The two luminaries were honored at LID’s annual Fall Curtain Call at Excelsior in Park Slope.

The event drew about 75 people. Other notables in attendance included Brooklyn City Council Members Jumaane Williams and Alan Maisel, former Assemblywoman Joan Millman, former Council Member and current District Leader Lew Fidler, Civil Court Judges Devin Cohen and Katherine Levine, District Leaders Josh Skaller, Geoffrey Davis and Anthony Jones, Irene LoRe, Executive Director of the Fifth Avenue Business District and Mickey Heller, Chair of the Board of Directors of Brooklyn Pride.

LID serves as the political voice of Brooklyn’s LGBT community.  For more information about LID visit www.LIDBrooklyn.org or e-mail LID at LIDBrooklyn@gmail.com.
