46th AD Race: Seddio Gets Behind Harris, Eaton Gets Behind Potter

46AD

Kings County Party Chair Frank Seddio yesterday met with 46th Assembly District Democratic nominee Pam Harris and her team at the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club, and announced afterward he is fully committed to getting her elected.

“We are in full blast and enthusiastically supporting Pam Harris,” said Seddio. “She is what I call a common sense Democrat who represents the ideals of the party without being a wasteful spender, and when she does spend, she spends on the right thing.”

Seddio acknowledged that the nomination process was contentious, in which Harris narrowly secured the nomination in the second round over former Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny’s chief of staff, Kate Cucco, but said the party is now circling its wagons to defeat Republican Lucretia Regina-Potter.

“This is a very unique district because it’s actually two separate neighborhoods connected by the Belt Parkway. They are two distinct communities which has been harmonious up until now and hopefully harmonious again once the election is completed. My understanding is that although we had a Democratic family fight now that the fight is over everybody will unify together and support Democrats,” said Seddio.

Meanwhile, Kings County Republican Chair Craig Eaton is also gathering the area’s district leaders and volunteers to pound the pavement for Regina-Potter in areas where they expect to do well such as Dyker Heights, the Russian-speaking community and pockets of Bay Ridge.

“This is a race we can win. Two weeks ago, Lucretia and I met with Republican State Chairman Ed Cox at the Bridge Diner in Bay Ridge, and he was very impressed with her,” said Eaton. “We believe it’s our time in the 46th.”

Eaton even attended the same Gargiulo’s Restaurant fundraiser for Regina-Potter earlier this week with GOP Bay Ridge Sen. Marty Golden, his rival in an ongoing dispute for control of Brooklyn’s Republican Party.

And while there were no reported dishes broken or wine glasses hurdling through the air between loyalists of the two Republican factions, Eaton reluctantly said he’s willing to work with Golden to win the seat.

“Let’s just say I look forward to working with all of our elected officials to ensure a victory for Lucretia Regina-Potter in Brooklyn,” said Eaton.
