East Flatbush City Council Member Jumaane D. Williams  said today he is looking forward to Wednesday, when the City Council Chambers celebrates the Chinese LunarNew Year, a holiday also known as the Spring Festival in China, which began Feb. 19 and ends Feb. 25.

“As festivities for the Chinese Lunar New Year continue throughout the City, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating this holiday in my District and beyond. Whether you mark this as the Year of the Ram, Goat, Sheep, or none of the above, this is a time for all New Yorkers to reflect on the diversity of our city, something that makes New York one of the greatest melting pots in the United States. I would like to again wish all of our brothers and sisters a Happy New Year. May thisyear be a joyful and prosperous year for all,” said Williams.

 “羊年到,祝三羊开泰,喜气羊羊。”

Last night Comptroller Scott Stringer attended the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association Lunar New Year Parade Opening Ceremony along 8th Avenue in Brooklyn’s growing Chinese community.
