City Council Member Jumaane Williams, State Senator Kevin Parker and Assembly Member-elect Rodneyse Bichotte  teamed with one of the city’s best street clean-up crews today to swap down Nostrand Avenue, Avenue D and Church Avenue on an ongoing basis.
That after Williams succeeded in getting funding to hire workers from the Doe fund, which is coming up on its 30th Anniversary of employing  transitional work and support to persons who are or have been homeless, incarcerated, or struggling with substance abuse.
The workers, dressed in blue uniforms, keep the streets clean in several neighborhoods around the city and were part of the cleanup effort following Superstorm Sandy .
“Thanks to Council Member Williams and the Doe Fund, East Flatbush will have a year of boots-on-the-ground to help both our City’s sanitation crews and our community keep some of our most critical commercial streets clean,” said Bichotte.  “The Doe Fund‘s ‘Men in Blue’ program is a valuable resource that time and time again demonstrated its commitment to the City in the wake of natural disasters and to support neighborhood clean-up efforts.”
