The largest network of public charter schools in Brooklyn  utilized their Election Day off to hold a second of four professional development days for regular public school educators to go over best practices.

Uncommon Charter Schools, which has 20 charter public schools in the borough, held the professional instruction day at their Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School, 832 Marcy Avenue. In attendance were over 200 Department of Education (DOE) teachers and school leaders from over 17 school districts.

The four sessions are funded through a half-million dollar state grand administered through the New York State Department of Education New York State. Dubbed IMPACT, the grant is for charter and regular public school  educators to share best education techniques and learning practices.

District teachers participating received professional development focused on Common Core-aligned English and math content.

The third training of the IMPACT program is slated for January 31.
