Citing the “very liberal policies of the Obama administration, Bay Ridge Republican State Senator is holding a fundraiser for the re-election of Congressman Michael Grimm, the New York Post reports.
Grimm, who is facing Democrat and former City Council member Domenic Recchia in the November election, is also battling federal tax evasion charges. Despite the charges political pundits are calling the race a dead heat.
The congressional district includes Staten Island and Bay Ridge. Both areas have traditionally been the only Republican strongholds in the city.
