With less then a week to go before primary day, the political bigwigs are picking sides in the 19th Senate District primary between incumbent John Sampson and union political operative Dell Smitherman.
Sampson, the former Senate Democratic Leader, is in the midst of a court battle as he faces federal embezzlement charges. Nevertheless, he has the support of former Borough President Marty Markowitz, and as of press time at least a wink and nod from current Borough President Eric Adams.
Smitherman has the support of Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio, the Daily News reports.
