A life-long fighter for New York and its residents, Jerry came to center stage as the “Ground Zero Congressman,” ably representing the district that was hit in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and working tirelessly in the aftermath to deliver substantial federal aid to first responders and survivors. During COVID, Jerry worked to ensure safe air for educators and students, and to support small businesses.
Some of his other accomplishments include the funding of the 2nd Avenue Subway and the Gateway Program, and his work towards greener parks, cleaner streets, and safer communities.
Jerry was born in Brooklyn, and today lives on the Upper West Side with his wife Joyce.
