Michael Benedetto (D)

(Incumbent)

Candidate Site

Michael R. Benedetto was born in the Bronx and has lived his entire life in Northeast Bronx. He spent 35 years teaching at the elementary and secondary school levels. Mike remained teaching until being elected to the State Assembly in 2004. Before his election, he was active in many community associations, helping to preserve our quality of life.

As an assembly member, Mike has focused on educational and child protection issues and has been an ardent supporter of union rights. He currently serves as the chair of the Assembly’s Education Committee where he successfully fought for equal funding of New York City schools.
