Candidate forums held for Assembly District 37 candidates; Incumbent Ardila a no-show at both events

Melissa Orlando is a proven community leader in Western Queens, with more than a decade of service – fighting for better transportation and infrastructure, standing up for small businesses, and advocating for displaced tenants and disaster victims. As a single mom, Melissa understands the daily challenges of raising a family in this city, whether it’s affordability, childcare, or navigating an often complex educational system. She is both a nonprofit professional and ballet instructor, teaching in her community for the past 15 years. Melissa values service to others above all and will fight for a community that is equitable and affordable.
