Laurie Cumbo
City Council Member Laurie Cumbo represents the 35th Council District including the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, Crown Heights, and Prospect Heights. A lifelong Brooklynite, she graduated from the Berkeley Carroll Day School in Park Slope and Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene. After graduating Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with a degree in Fine Art, she returned to Brooklyn and received her Master’s Degree in Visual Arts Administration from New York University. She remains active in the arts – both inside and outside of government – and is the founder of MoCADA, Brooklyn’s first Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts.
