Mamdani leans into ‘pothole politics’ at 100-day rally, picks East Harlem for first city-run grocery store

Mayor Zohran Mamdani used his 100-day rally Sunday night to argue that the next phase of his first term will be shaped by what he called “pothole politics” — a governing style rooted as much in fixing the daily irritants of city life as in the larger promises that put him in office.

The mayor paired that argument with three new pledges for the rest of his term: making good on his campaign pledge to open a network of five city-run grocery stores, a citywide trash containerization campaign, and faster buses on 45 priority corridors.
