Blakeman sues state boards over campaign funds decision amid gubernatorial race

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has sued a state elections panel, alleging that the board’s decision to deem the gubernatorial candidate ineligible to receive public matching funds for the 2026 primary or general election was improper.

Blakeman’s lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, April 8, in Albany County Supreme Court against the state Public Campaign Financing Board and the state Board of Elections, seeks to reverse the decision made by the Democratic-majority Public Campaign Financing Board, which in a 4-3 vote ruled Blakeman ineligible to receive the funding due to incorrect paperwork his campaign filed to qualify for the matching funds program.
