Council Member Ty Hankerson, who serves as chair of the Committee on Parks and Recreation, held a hearing on Wednesday, April 1, on a four-bill Earth Day package focused on expanding access to green space, addressing environmental disparities and strengthening how the city manages public spaces.
The four bills — Intro 577, Intro 740, Intro 805 and Intro 806 — aim to advance a series of improvement measures for environmental and quality of life standards across the city. The hearing was considered a public review of the package and “a chance to raise questions about implementation and work through issues that still need attention before the bills move forward,” according to a press release.
