Council Member Joann Ariola has asserted that flooding issues in a section of Old Howard Beach are a “thing of the past” after the city’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) cleared long-standing blockages in a local catch basin.
Ariola’s office said a catch basin at the intersection of 156th Avenue and Killarney Road had been causing flooding issues for over a year due to blockages and debris in the basin.
