The NYC Aging Commissioner, Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie, visited the Selfhelp Community Services Center in Maspeth on Friday, March 13, during a citywide tour of older adult facilities, where she heard directly from senior residents and learned about available services.
Dr. Scott-McKenzie’s visit to the Queens location came on the heels of her recent appointment in the Mamdani administration last month, tasked with leading initiatives to support the city’s older adult population. Starting on her first day as the NYC Aging Commissioner on Monday, March 2, the healthcare advocate sought to interact with senior residents and partner with service providers who regularly care for them.
