An MTA committee proceeded on Monday with recommending approval of the agency’s next contract to extend the Second Avenue Subway into East Harlem.
The board’s Capital Program Committee voted to greenlight the procurement despite the MTA’s recently filed lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging it will not be able to award the contract without nearly $60 million in funding the feds have withheld since October. The $1.1 billion accord is for excavating a new 106th Street station “box” and structures connecting it to existing tunnels to the north and south.
