A coalition of Queens elected officials has called on the Landmarks Preservation Commission to designate Maspeth Firehouse as an official city landmark in recognition of the station’s sacrifice on 9/11.
Maspeth Firehouse – home to Squad 288 and HazMat 1 – lost 19 firefighters during the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center – the greatest loss of any firehouse in New York City.
