City Council Speaker Julie Menin pledged on Wednesday to fight the deportation of a staffer detained earlier this year.
According to Menin, U.S. District Court Judge John Cornan ordered Rafael Rubio, a data analyst, removed from the country at a March 18 hearing. Rubio has been in detention since he was arrested at a routine immigration hearing in Bethpage, LI, on Jan. 12.
