Bronx electeds call for mayor to resign following indictment

Several Bronx elected officials are calling for Mayor Eric Adams to resign following his indictment by Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, on charges of corruption and bribery.

The charges against Adams unsealed Sept. 26 date back to his tenure as Brooklyn Borough President and are compounded by other investigations and resignations among top city leaders. Meanwhile, Adams has said he will not step down and maintains his innocence, claiming that the charges are political retaliation for his criticism of the federal government’s handling of immigration.
