Today on In the Community with sponsored by AARP, our host Elizabeth Schneps Aloni, Senior Vice President for NYC Community News & Events at Schneps Media had pleasure of speaking with Council Member Kamillah Hanks. Council Member Hanks represents Council District 49, which includes Arlington, Clifton, Clove Lakes, Concord, Elm Park, Graniteville, Livingston, Mariners Harbor, New Brighton, Port Richmond, Randall Manor, Rosebank, St. George, Snug Harbor, Silver Lake, Stapleton, Sunnyside, West Brighton and Tomkinsville.
When Council Member Hanks ran for office, she ran on public safety and creating a masterplan. This past year, Council Member Hanks was able to accomplish many of the goals she set forth, including taking big steps in the revitalization of the North Shore Waterfront. In the new year, Council Member Hanks intends to advocate for the increase in the department of aging budget. Council Member Hanks stated, “the department of the aging and our seniors are some of the most important pieces of our constituency” and she plans to continue pushing for the prioritization of senior initiatives in 2023.
