New York’s top Justice Janet DiFiore steps down from Court of Appeals

Justice Janet DiFiore, chief justice of the New York Court of Appeals – the state’s highest court – announced that she would be stepping down from the position in August of 2022. 

This comes as lawmakers in Albany are hard at work to codify and consider stronger laws on guns and abortion, Measures currently at the heart of the national debate and whose legality could be determined by the New York State judiciary.
