Covering politics and government reminds me of icebergs.
Above the waterline what meets the eye is a massive block of ice, but as gigantic as it may be, it is only the tip of the iceberg for its bulk lies unseen below the water.
And so it is with politics and government. What meets the eye are the elected officials, the votes they take, the hearings they hold, the policies they make.
But unseen behind this public show is a network of people. Strategists, advisors and public relations people tasked with making sure elected officials and commissioners in various government agencies are seen in the best light. Attorneys that are experts in election law and vetting the legalities of new policies and laws. Lobbyists that know and understand the corridors of power, and who work for the private for-profit and nonprofit sectors with business before government. Policy wonks that research and actually write the policy. And the list goes on.
Bringing these behind-the-scenes people in politics and government to the forefront is the premise behind PoliticsNY’s new show, “Behind the Curtain”.
Here you will meet the people in the background of local and state government and politics with revealing and sometimes irreverent interviews with the show’s on-air talent and executive produce Skye Ostreicher, and sometimes yours truly.
Check it out as we post episodes of this exciting new series of interviews with the players behind the scenes every Tuesday and Thursday.
