Sanders Hosts Virtual Post-Election Event
Senator James Sanders Jr. (D–Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Edgemere, Bayswater, Arverne and Far Rockaway) will be hosting a virtual event on Facebook Live in light of the results of this historic presidential election where a panel of experts will discuss the future of the nation.
The panel, “What the 2020 Election Means for Our Future: Think! It Ain’t Illegal Yet!” will feature guest speakers U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-Manhattan), State Senators Jamaal T. Bailey (D-Bronx), Brian Benjamin (D-Manhattan), Leroy Comrie (D-Briarwood, Cambria Heights, Hollis, Hollis Hills, Hillcrest, Jamaica, Jamaica Estates, Jamaica Hills, Kew Gardens, Laurelton, Queens Village, Rosedale, South Jamaica, Springfield Gardens, St. Albans), Michael Gianaris (D-Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, parts of Woodside, Maspeth, Ridgewood, Woodhaven), State Assemblymembers Alicia Hyndman (D-Springfield Gardens), Clyde Vanel (D-Cambria Heights, St. Albans, Hollis, Queens Village, Bellerose and parts of Floral Park), State Assembly Member-Elect Khaleel Anderson (D-JFK Airport, South Ozone Park and parts of Rockaway Peninsula), Chairman of the Will County Republican Central Committee in Illinois George Pearson, and Co-Chair of NYC DSA Sumanthy Kumar.
The virtual event will take place on Monday Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Meng, Stavisky, Addabbo, Rosenthal, Koslowitz Join Town Hall
U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Bayside, Flushing, Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows, Glendale, Kew Gardens, Maspeth, Middle Village, Rego Park), State Senators Toby Stavisky (D-Central Queens) and Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Woodhaven, Glendale, Middle Village, Maspeth and parts of South Ozone Park, Ridgewood, Woodside and The Rockaways), State Assemblymember Daniel Rosenthal (D-Kew Gardens Hills, Kew Gardens, Pomonok, Electchester, College Point and parts of Whitestone, Richmond Hill, Briarwood and Forest Hills), and City Council Member Karen Koslowitz (D-Forest Hills, Forest Park, Kew Gardens, Rego Park, and Richmond Hill), are joining New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer and Queens Community Board 6 for a virtual town hall about Forest Hills and Rego Park on Monday night.
During the town hall, residents will be able to learn how their offices are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, learn about what resources are available, and tell the lawmakers about any issues they are experiencing.

Constantinides Celebrates New 4-Way Stop Sign
City Councilmember Costa Constantinides (D-Astoria, East Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, Woodside) and community leaders gathered on Friday to celebrate the installation of a new four-way stop sign and crosswalk at 12th Street and Astoria Boulevard.
The sign will bring an added level of street safety, especially for students who travel from the Astoria Houses to P.S. 171 — Peter G. Van Alst.
“This new signage reflects the best of communities working together,” said Constantinides. “Richard Khuzami and the Old Astoria Neighborhood Association (OANA), Claudia Coger of the Astoria Houses Residents Association, Principal Lisa Stone, P.S. 171 and Andre Stith of Zone 126 all deserve our praise for making our streets safer.”
OANA, the Astoria Houses Residents Association, Zone 126 and educators came together to request the traffic calming measures at 12th Street and Astoria Boulevard. Previously, crossings were unsafe between the Astoria Houses, near 8th Street and Astoria Boulevard, and P.S. 171, at 14th Street and 29th Avenue. The New York City Department of Transportation heard their call for a safer intersection and responded with measures that will certainly calm traffic in the area.
