St. Francis College Announces Roster of Online Spring Admissions Events

St. Francis College announced Friday that the school is adapting to the COVID-19 outbreak by offering online events to ensure prospective students don’t miss opportunities to connect

Students considering attending St. Francis College are now participating in online programming to learn about the College’s degree programs, courses and community, thanks to a series of events developed by the SFC Admissions Office.

These new remote, web-based events – which include one-on-one and group information sessions – replace the popular roster of real-world admissions events that typically attract hundreds of prospective students and their families to the College’s Brooklyn Heights campus each spring.

Traditionally, high school seniors and their families, domestically and internationally, visit campuses they are considering – speaking to admissions staff, interacting with current students and future classmates, sitting in lectures – before deciding on the school to attend.

Based on guidance from health authorities and directives from the Governor of New York, St. Francis College is limiting access to its campus for the remainder of its 2019-20 academic year, and is now teaching classes and providing all its other services entirely online.

More than 100 people have participated in SFC’s first few online admissions events, with even higher attendance anticipated for the upcoming ones, suggesting an audience eager to interact with the College this way.

“We’re proud to deliver personalized education to each and every one of our students – no matter the format – and that individualized attention extends to the way we interact with our prospective students,” said Rob Oliva, SFC Director of Recruitment. “Anyone who has attended one of our admissions events, or seen our president or other staff visit their high school, knows just how special it is to experience that St. Francis energy and camaraderie in person. We’re excited to translate that spirit into an online environment. St. Francis is open for business, and we invite anyone considering their education options to join us online.”

St. Francis has seen booming enrollment numbers in recent years.  Last fall, the College welcomed 823 new full-time students, including both the largest entering freshman class in six years and an all-time record-high 209 transfer students. Its undergraduates choose from more than 70 majors and minors across 19 academic departments. The College also awards master’s degrees in four areas: Accounting (with programs for both an MS and a combined BS/MS), Management, Psychology and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.
