This week Kelly Mena, Stephen Witt and Tom Russotti sit down with New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo (D-Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights).
Cumbo talks a little about her life’s journey from growing up in East Flatbush to going to Spellman College, one of the diamonds in the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) system, and about her launch of the Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Arts (MoCADA), 80 Hanson Place.
Cumbo also speaks candidly about her entrance into the political arena, civility and the role of media in politics. Additionally, she touches on some of the issues affecting the 35th Council District including affordable housing and the growth in development across the district.
