The future of the borough’s Democratic Party politics was on display last week as the Queens County Young Democrats (QCYD) hosted its monthly meeting on August 14 at Bungalow Bar in the Rockaways.
Young Democrats from all over the borough traveled for the summer social, which drew the likes of Assemblywomen Stacey Pheffer-Amato (D-Broad Channel, Hamilton Beach, Howard Beach, Lindenwood, Ozone Park, Rockaway) and Alicia Hyndman (D-Laurelton, Rosedale, St. Albans, Addisleigh Park, Hollis, Springfield Gardens, Jamaica), City Council Member Donovan Richards (D-Arverne, Brookville, Edgemere, Far Rockaway, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens) and State Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Woodhaven, Glendale, Middle Village, Maspethand, South Ozone Park, Ridgewood, Woodside and the Rockaways).
Other attendees included Democratic District Leaders Lew Simon, Frank Gulluscio and David Aglialoro.
“In this political climate, it is truly important that every single American recognizes the power of the vote, and the Queens County Young Democrats were proud to share this with the passionate citizens of the Rockaways,” said QCYD Executive Vice President Breeana Mulligan.
The young Dems welcomed new members with open arms and encouraged them to remain involved. All the elected officials encouraged the next generation of Democrats to get out the vote for all candidates in the upcoming elections and make their voices heard.
Pheffer-Amato, Hyndman and Addabbo expressed gratitude for the club’s support on their respective re-election campaigns. Richards asked all in attendance to spread the word about his state colleagues’ campaigns and encouraged all young Democrats to volunteer.
:We were beyond impressed with the support of the Rockaways community and encourage all of them to remain involved so we can ensure New York becomes blue across the board this fall,” said Mulligan.
“We are especially grateful of Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer-Amato, Council Member Donovan Richards, Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman and State Senator Joseph Addabbo for their time and never ending support of QCYD,” she added.
QCYD will hold its annual Summer Bash on September 20th in Long Island City. For more information, visit www.queensyoungdems.com.
