With Mayor Bill de Blasio and Public Advocate (and State Attorney General candidate) Letitia James being the main draw, Brooklyn and the city and state’s top Democrats filled the house with optimism and politicking at last week’s annual Kings County Democratic Party Gala.

Among those in this photo are Assembly Members Joe Lentol and Helene Weinstein, and former Assemblymember and Brooklyn Democratic Party Co-Chair Anette Robinson.

Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Frank Seddio and the party’s attorney Frank Carone acted as emcees for the packed event held at El Caribe Country Club, 5945 Strickland Avenue in Mill Basin. Over 300 politicians, operatives, consultants and major non-profits attended the affair.

James, who recently received the state Democratic Party endorsement in her run for attorney general this year, was introduced and had to leave early for another engagement, but she thanked Seddio and fellow Democrats for their support.

James also vowed to take on President Donald Trump‘s “draconian policies” towards immigration and other issues, and to fight in the courts every policy that is hurting the state and country.

Seddio introduced de Blasio as the homegrown Brooklyn mayor, and in his short speech, the mayor rallied Democrats to stick together and take back both the House and the Senate in Washington. While de Blasio arrived late, he stayed for some time, greeting attendees and working the crowd.

Among the people received awards for their service included former City Council and Assembly member and current Democratic Party Vice Chair Anette Robinson, Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and former City Councilwoman Una Clarke.

Throughout the entire evening, the noise of the crowd never quieted beyond a low murmur, and was filled with table hopping and networking.

Most of the attendees remained standing, toting small plates and cocktails as they made their way throughout the crowd. Networking, new introductions and even debating policy were the rumblings of the suitably dressed Democrats in attendance.
