Editor’s Note: The following letter is from the Brownsville Collaborative Middle School Teaching Staff and the School Principal Greg Jackson. KCP kicked in a few dollars because we feel it’s a good cause and we hope you, dear readers, feel the same.
We want to thank Borough President Eric L. Adams and Senator Jesse Hamilton for starting the Campus in Brownsville.
Middle school is a time of incredible transformation for young people. At the end of each school year, we as their teachers are absolutely amazed with the social, emotional, and academic growth our students have made through all of their hard work over the previous 10 months. This holds even truer for the unbelievable growth children show between the time they enter 6th grade and leave middle school at the end of the 8th grade.
Many of our children come from difficult circumstances and have fought hard to overcome the obstacles that hinder their growth and happiness. They and their families all too often have to make sacrifices just to get by. Because of financial difficulties these young people often miss out on exciting opportunities that would help enrich their lives. Our students are bright, enthusiastic, kind, and full of love, and we want nothing more than to help them celebrate their achievements in recognition of all the work they do.
We feel that our graduating seniors deserve a fun, care-free day at Hershey Park to celebrate all that they have accomplished in Middle School. The Hershey Park Senior Trip is a tradition in our school, but unfortunately financial troubles are preventing many students from attending. We want all 43 of our graduating 8th graders to have the opportunity to participate and believe that no one should be excluded from this momentous occasion because of monetary issues. The cost of this trip includes the coach bus to and from Pennsylvania, entry to the park, and meal vouchers for each student.
Please help us give our 8th graders the Senior Trip they deserve by clicking here to make a contribution. We appreciate any support you can provide.
Thank You,
Principal Greg Jackson

P.S. You can make a difference by contributing $10, $50, $100 or whatever you can give as a commitment to our students.
