U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand spoke on the Senate floor today to mark the 44thanniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision affirming that women have a constitutional right to make their own health care decisions.
Gillibrand called on her colleagues to protect women’s access to lifesaving health care provided under the Affordable Care Act and urged the Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade. Her speech came amid the growing concerns that President Trump and the Republican majority Congress may roll back a woman’s right to control her body, and specifically birth control decisions including abortions.
