Brooklyn’s Republican lawmakers today weighed in on President-elect Donald Trump‘s surprising victory Tuesday.
While Hillary Clinton trounced Trump in the heavily Democratic Brooklyn, 595,086 to 133,653, things were much closer in Southwest and Southern Brooklyn. According to the Brooklyn Daily, Trump won the neighborhoods of Sheepshead Bay, Gravesend, Midwood, Brighton Beach, and Manhattan Beach.
“It is my honor to offer congratulations to the 45th President of the United States of America, President-elect Donald J. Trump, on his incredible election victory. The American people share this historic win because we voted for our nation’s future. The Make America Great Again mantra resonated with Americans across our great nation, securing a win for a Republican President, Congress and Senate,” said State Sen. Marty Golden (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend and parts of Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park and Midwood).
“This election was a tough fight for a better America. I am confident President-elect Trump will work tirelessly to fix the problems in Washington DC, return law and order to our communities, invigorate our economy, and restore America’s position as the world’s super power. Now that the election is over we need to pray and come together as a nation to support our new President. Let us remember that our enemies do not distinguish between political parties, poverty and crime does not discriminate against race and when America wins we all win. God Bless President-elect Donald Trump and God Bless America.”
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (Bay Ridge, Staten Island) said Trump’s election was a historic night for the American people who are tired of being abused by government and demand change.
“For the past eight years, we have seen the United States head in the wrong direction with rising healthcare premiums crippling taxpayers and business, jobs being lost to other countries and a $20 trillion debt that has become insurmountable. It is my hope that Donald Trump’s victory will turn the tide for our nation and put us back on the path to prosperity,” said Malliotakis.
Congressman Dan Donovan (Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Gravesend and part of Sheepshead Bay, Staten Island) congratulated President-elect Trump on his remarkable victory.
This election was about putting the power of government back in the hands of the people, and the silent majority is silent no more. I look forward to working with President Trump to fix Washington, repeal Obamacare, and rebuild the American economy. Now is the time for all Americans to come together for the good of our nation,” Donovan said.
Kings County Republican Party Chair Ted Ghorra congratulated fellow New Yorker Donald J. Trump on his historic victory Tuesday and hoped his win will carryover in citywide elections next year.
“Americans across this great nation voted overwhelmingly to reject the culture of corruption, and instead to change the direction of our country in order to grow our economy, cut the burden of taxes and unnecessary regulations, protect our citizenry, improve inner cities, improve our options for and costs of healthcare, help veterans and to simply bring back common sense and a respect for law enforcement and our country on the world stage,” said Ghorra.
“We look forward to seeing these accomplishments as they occur and to a greater nation than we already have. We hope to further the momentum and energy of this victory with us into the mayoral and city council races in 2017.”
