Democratic Assemblyman Dov Hikind (Boro Park) will respond to questions regarding Donald Trump tonight in a forum being promoted with local fliers around Brooklyn on the Jewish Perspective in the upcoming presidential election.
Hikind is doing this for the sake of argument in the symposium, but this does not mean he is endorsing Trump, according to his spokesperson. Hikind is expected to make an endorsement in the near future.
According to the flier, Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of the Kashrut Division of the Orthodox Union will respond to questions regarding Hillary Clinton. Leon Goldenberg, the host of the radio show Community Matters and who sits on the board of both COJO of Flatbush and Agudas Israel of America will be the moderator.

Adams Launches Partnership With Afropunk
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams on Friday launched an innovative partnership with AFROPUNK, a socially-conscious music festival first held in 2005 in Brooklyn that has since connected with millions of fans globally at the nexus of alternative and urban cultures.
Under the partnership the organization will expand their shared movement of engaging young people in volunteering on service projects across the borough. Supported by his allocation of $50,000 from Brooklyn Borough Hall’s discretionary budget, thousands of individuals from the AFROPUNK Army, the volunteer corps of AFROPUNK that launched last summer, will be mobilized to support a variety of community service efforts.
In exchange, volunteers that contribute eight hours or more of their time will earn a ticket to the annual AFROPUNK Festival held at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, which in past years has featured such artists as Lauryn Hill, Grace Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Janelle Monae, Questlove, and TV on the Radio.
“AFROPUNK is a tremendous ‘only in Brooklyn’ success story, and I am proud that their popularity is being harnessed through volunteerism to advance prosperity for all Brooklynites,” said Adams. “The AFROPUNK Army is a force for good that we are energizing and empowering across our borough, with ‘soldiers’ helping us fight the socioeconomic challenges facing our communities.”
The first project that Borough President Adams and the AFROPUNK Army are collaborating on is an outreach campaign to the tens of thousands of Brooklynites living in public housing.
The outreach is in advance of a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) town hall Adams is hosting this week.
NYCHA Chair and CEO Shola Olatoye, along with Bronx City Council Member Ritchie Torres, chair of the Committee on Public Housing will co-host the event with Adams. The town hall will give residents an opportunity to directly address matters such as maintenance issues, the NextGeneration NYCHA plan, and the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program.
It is slated for between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., this Thursday, November 3 at UnCommon High School, 1485 Pacific Avenue in Crown Heights.

Donovan Gets Second Dem Club Endorsement
A second Brooklyn Democratic organization–the New Era Democrats– late last week endorsed Congressman Dan Donovan (Southwestern Brooklyn, Staten Island) for reelection.
Donovan was endorsed earlier the week by the Brooklyn Kings Highway Democratic Club. He is running for his first full term following his special election last May where he secured nearly 60% of the vote.
“We are excited to endorse Congressman Dan Donovan for reelection,” said New Era Democrats President John Orlando. “In the short time Dan has been in Congress he worked on the issues most important to his constituents. From reauthorizing the Zadroga Health Bill to restoring funds for transportation and homeland security, we are proud of his hard work and dedication.”
“I”m so grateful to the New Era Democrats for their endorsement,” said Congressman Donovan. “At a time of deep political polarization, it’s an honor to receive so much support from across party lines. I’ve always prided myself on doing what’s best for the people I represent and I will continue that philosophy where it is desperately needed in Washington to solve our nation’s problems.”
Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro & Halperin, LLP Obtain $12.085 Million Settlement (Sponsored)
Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro & Halperin attorney Kathleen Kettles recently obtained a court order approving the settlement of $12,085,000.
This is a case involving the failure to timely deliver an infant to a first-time mother and resulting in severe brain damage to the child who is now six-years-old. This child cannot speak, walk or talk and must be tube fed. Her parents are completely devoted, but their day to day existence is filled with dealing doctor’s appointments, emergency visits, outside therapies and managing or providing her child’s need for extensive nursing services.
“I am truly in awe of this family and despite the heartache of having a child this disabled, it has been a joy to work for them. This settlement will lessen the burden on this incredible family,” said Kettles, who heads the firm’s Medical Malpractice team. Though a practicing attorney for almost 28 years, she was an RN for ten years prior to going to law school.
During the litigation, Kathy worked extensively with well known, respected experts in the fields of obstetrics, maternal fetal medicine, neonatology, pediatric neurology, pediatric neuroradiology and a life care planner to prepare the case for trial. It is this attention to detail which results in an extremely favorable settlement for her clients.
“When I was a nurse, I often felt powerless to really help my patients, but as a nurse attorney, I get to help secure a child’s future and there is no greater feeling of satisfaction,” she said.
