Nadler At Loss For Ideas Regarding Affordable Housing

11th-3

Congressman Jerrold Nadler, considered a very sharp mind among many, appears to have met his match in his GOP opponent Dr. Phil Rosenthal.

That after Nadler’s office refused to comment on Rosenthal’s progressive plan to offer a federal renters tax credit to low- and middle-income New Yorkers.

Under Rosenthal’s plan, renters that pay 40% or more of their income in rent will get a tax credit check back equal to 10% of their annual rent. More depending on the size of their family and the percentage of income that they pay for rent. The tax credit would not apply to those with upper middle-class and above income levels, he said.

Rosenthal, a PhD Caltech physicist, Harvard-trained nuclear lawyer, entrepreneur, and graduate from Yale, said he worked out the plan with help from economists to bring much-needed financial help to renters paying huge chunks of their income every year to keeping a roof over their head.

Rosenthal entered the race in large part to oppose Nadler’s support for the Iran nuclear deal, and while he remains a hawk on foreign policy and believes the deal should be repealed, he said he also has other ideas to strengthen the economy and put more money in the pockets of constituents in the district.

Among these ideas are streamlining federal W/MBE (Women and Minority Owned Business Enterprises) based applications; providing more federal funding for local primary care health facilities and restructuring student loan programs to reduce debt.
