Democrat Assemblyman Dov Hikind (Boro Park) yesterday crossed party lines and endorsed Republican Philip Rosenthal against incumbent Jerrold Nadler in the upcoming 10th Congressional District race.

Rosenthal, a Caltech physicist, Harvard-trained nuclear lawyer, entrepreneur, and graduate from Yale is the nominee of the Republican, Conservative, and Independence Parties. He will also appear on the “Stop the Iran Deal” ballot line, and is running in part in opposition to Nadler’s support of the Iran deal – a move that angered many Orthodox and right wing Jews.

“Dr. Rosenthal is a man of honor, integrity, is class personified, and has all the characteristics one would look for in a great leader,” Hikind said. “I, along with members of my family, will be voting for him this November on the ‘Stop the Iran Deal’ party line, and I encourage everyone to do so as well.”

Hikind said it is important to hold Nadler accountable for the “disastrous” Iran deal that he championed. “He has jeopardized the safety of American and Israeli families in supporting this deal. Very disingenuous! Didn’t he also vow to keep Iran in check should it violate any of the terms of the agreement? Where has Jerry Nadler been? The silence is deafening,” said Hikind.

Rosenthal said besides his opposition to the Iran deal, he is running to reduce taxes on working families and small businesses, to make housing more affordable by implementing a renter’s tax credit, and to bring real school choice to the community.

“It is with sincere and humble gratitude that I accept the endorsement of Assemblyman Hikind,” said Rosenthal. “The fact that Assemblyman Hikind crossed Party lines to endorse my candidacy is indicative of the growing bipartisan support for my campaign.

“We must reassert America’s leadership in the world, and treat our allies like Israel better than our enemies. That’s why my first priority after being elected to Congress will be to work on repealing the dangerous nuclear deal we signed with Iran. My next priority will be to bring financial relief to the thousands of small businesses and hundreds of thousand working residents in the 10th CD.”

“After meeting with Dr. Rosenthal, it quickly became apparent how brilliant and articulate he is,” Hikind said. “Understand that if you vote for Philip Rosenthal, you’re also voting for the safety of our families in America and Israel. I look forward to not only voting for Philip Rosenthal, but working with him to stop the disaster that is the Iran Deal.”

The election is Nov. 8.
