Maimonides recently honored Summer Youth Program participants at a special Recognition Ceremony that highlighted the theme, “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.”
The ceremony celebrated the important contributions of the 390 participants and their impressive 70,000 hours of service – both record numbers for the Program.
Throughout the summer, participants worked alongside Maimonides staffers, assisting with clerical and clinical tasks, foreign language interpretation, support services, and recreational activities for patients.
“The contributions made by our Summer Youth Program participants have a tremendous impact on everyone,” said Ken Gibbs, Maimonides President & CEO, while giving the opening remarks. “Students not only gain valuable work experience for their own benefit, but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve.”
The Summer Youth Program Recognition Ceremony included welcoming remarks given by Ken Gibbs, Maimonides President & CEO, and Douglas Jablon, Maimonides Senior Vice President.
Guest speakers Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President; Daphne Montanez, Assistant Commissioner of Youth Workforce Development, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development; and Lynelle Mahon, Director of Programs at 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation, encouraged Summer Youth Program participants to pursue their professional goals and continue to make a difference.
Additional highlights of the Recognition Ceremony included a musical selection performed by the NYPD Police Band and a special video presentation showcasing the outstanding efforts of the Summer Youth Program participants.
