You know that a Brooklyn Democratic Club has juice when Hillary Clinton takes out an ad in for the program of your annual Awards Reception.
But that wasn’t the reason I decided to attend the annual wing ding fundraiser for the Brooklyn Independent Democrats in Ditmas Park hosted by 44th Assembly District leader Lori Knipel at the beautiful Victorian home of Alice and Lowell Rubin.
Among the people this reporter got into extended conversations with was 47th Assembly District leader Nancy Tong, who although a protege of Assemblyman William Colton, showed she is getting stronger political sea legs in discussing the state of her district and the evolving empowerment of the growing Chinese-Americans moving to and living in Sunset Park and Bensonhurst.
Later this reporter sat a few minutes with Sheepshead Bay City Councilman Chaim Deutsch where we discussed his loyalty and work on focussing on constituent services.
Others at the party included Kings County Democratic Party Chair Frank Seddio, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, City Council Members David Greenfield, Mathieu Eugene and Vincent Gentile; and freshman judicial candidates Susan Quirk and Rachel Freier.
The awardees of the evening were City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Brooklyn Navy Yard Executive Vice President Jocelynne Rainey, City Planning Commissioner Joseph Douek and past Brooklyn Bar Association President Gregory Cerchione.
Among the district leaders in attendance were Geoffrey Davis, Shirley Patterson, Ed Powell, Joseph Bova.
Among those introducing the awardees was past Brooklyn Bar Association President Andy Fisher.
